Now we have left London. It is September 11th, and the World Trade
Towers have fallen.
We do not know this yet. We are busy seeing our first castle of the trip. Leeds Castle, not in the city of Leeds, but to the South-East of London. We found out about the WTC as we were in the cafeteria after our tour. The staff took us into an inner room, where we watched the BBC news, showing the towers falling. I thought at first that there was some mistake. The longer I watched the images, the more horrified I became. We spent the next several days in shock, trying to make sense of this horrible act. Our vacation was changed after that - we were worried about friends, one in particular who, as so many others did, died in the upper floors of the towers. |
